LinkShare

LinkShare is a new bit of technology for you that will solve a problem we all face with social media. How many times have you tried to share a link on Facebook or other social media, and the preview image that appears is not what you want to show up?

It happens all of the time. The issue is with the “Open Graph” tags that must be just right for the image to appear correctly. The Facebook Debugger is available, but you must be a pretty good technician to get it to work 100 percent of the time.

That is where LinkShare comes in.

Let me give you an example.

Let’s say I want to post a link to our new Machine Maverick newsletter.  I copy the link and paste it into my Facebook business page. The image it provides as a preview is not good. It is too small and does not represent Toby well. In fact, when I actually post, it does not look anything like what I would want.

What if I could easily make the image be anything I want it to be?  I open up LinkShare and paste in the same link. Sure enough it shows me what the image is going to look like on the various social media platforms. 

Now, I find an image I like better, in an appropriate size, and I drop it into LinkShare, which now give me a representation of how my post will look.

I copy the link and Linshare gives me a “Short Link.” What you will actually see when we release this today is not the link here, it will be something much more attractive and travel oriented.

I take the link and post it to my Facebook business page, and look what happens!

What is the appropriate size image to use? If you do a Google search, you will find plenty of resources with appropriate image sizes.
